Common questions

How is income tax calculated?

Using the 2026 brackets: 10% up to ₪7,010, 14% up to ₪10,060, 20% up to ₪16,150, 31% up to ₪22,440, 35% up to ₪46,690, 47% up to ₪60,140, and 50% above. Each tax credit point reduces the resulting tax by ₪242 per month.

What are tax credit points and how many do I get?

A credit point reduces monthly income tax by ₪242 (2026). Israeli-resident men get 2.25; women get 2.75. Add 1 per child under 18, 1 for a single parent, 0.5 for a completed degree, and more. Check eligibility on the Israel Tax Authority website.

What do National Insurance and Health Tax cost?

Both are levied on two tiers: up to ₪7,522/month (60% of average wage) — 0.4% NII + 3.1% Health Tax. From there up to ₪50,695 — 7% NII + 5% Health Tax. Nothing is levied above the ceiling.

What is the employee pension contribution?

Under the 2026 mandatory pension extension order, an employee contributes at least 6% of salary (some funds allow up to 7%). The employer adds 6.5% + 8.33% severance. Only the employee portion is shown. Contribution is mandatory up to the insured-salary ceiling (₪12,536 for 2026); above that it is voluntary.

Does the calculation include study fund and other reliefs?

Not in this version. The calculator focuses on the four main deductions: income tax, National Insurance, Health Tax and pension. Study fund (קרן השתלמות), annual tax refunds, residency reliefs (Negev/Galilee), single-parent points and others require individual calculation. For a binding number, consult a tax advisor or CPA.
